healthy lifestyle
hello. although today is 11th of February, i hope it's not too late for me to say - 'Happy New Year 2022!'
..
*crickets' sound*
okay that's it. back to the topic. sooo today, like the title suggested above, i am going to rant about healthy lifestyle.
why? why this topic?
here's why. so last few days (this happened about 1 month ago, but i've been procrastinating. soo) i went to one of courier services nearby with my sister. when i was about to park, i noticed, there was this one couple on motorcycle stopped at the side of road. i saw the guy winced in pain while his wife rubbing his chest, to ease the pain.
i was stunned. i knew that was a typical sign of angina aka chest pain. i was considering in my head, 'what should i do? should get off my car and help him? but what can i do other than suggesting him to go to emergency or taking sublingual GTN? i dont have any GTN with me right now. it will be useless anyway. heck.' i parked my car. he then start his motorcycle and was about to leave. i can see how he carefully controlling his motorcycle on the road.
it really makes me feel bad. what if the pain won't go away in 30 mins? what if he collapses on the road? what if he involves in a car accident? more 'what if's keep playing in my head.
the situation reminds me about one of my neighbour a few years back. he was in his early 40s at that time. he passed away due to heart attack. from what i heard, it started with similar situation. he was in the car with his wife when he suddenly experiencing chest pain. they stopped the car at the side of the road. both of them in the car think that it would go away in a matter of time, but no. 30 minutes passed.. the pain was still there. the wife called for an ambulance. but everything was too late. the medical team arrived just to pronounce her husband's death. allahumma aghfirlahu wa'afihi waa'fuanhu. he left a widower and three kids.
sad isn't it?
i don't know. these situations make me think a lot. i don't want to leave due to those. what even more frightening is - i have done routine blood test a few months ago, just to know that i have quite a high level of cholesterol. it got me anxious at some point. but luckily, my HDL level (good cholesterol) is quite high, which can somehow compensate my LDL level (bad cholesterol). that was a few months ago. idk how is it now. i haven't been practicing healthy lifestyle well. i tried. but haven't been working well.
i have a few plan for that but lemme just put it here as a reminder for everyone of us, for me myself especially.
1. eat well.
- all in all, 'suku-suku-separuh' as suggested by KKM. it is more than enough tbh.
- less oily food
- more veges
- enough water - 6 to 8 glassess of plain water per day. (250ml per glass. so, this would be1.5ml to 2L per day)
- as suggested by DHHS, 2008 - 150 minutes per week (of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity) or 75 minutes per week (of vigoroud-intensity aerobic physical activity)
- 150 minutes per week - 5 days x 30 minutes. brisk walk, raking leaves, or any outdoor games are included.
- this is proven to lessen the risk of CVD, diabetes, colon cancer and breast cancer.
- reference: be physically active everyday (a good read though)
