new year, new resolution?

hola.

today is... twel-- wait, twelfth of January?? whew. i was late to the party. okay so, how is everyone doing? great? good. keep on doing great as you already are.

i've been meaning to write this post earlier but i got distracted by few other unnecessary things. so here i am after days of procrastinating stuffs here and there, trying to squeeze my brain so that i could write something here.

so last year, or few weeks ago - i have read a book by Aiman Azlan (acclaimed author and youth mentor) titled Unfollow the Flow. honest opinion about the book: excellent, well-described and well put. i can say that it is quite easy for me to grasp the concepts that he mentioned in the book. logical and realistic kind of approach. as the author described the book, it is on how to 'owning your life - driven by passion and purpose.'

soo briefly about the book, (mind you, this is just my point of view) it covers about how to take things one step at a time. identify who you are, what you're capable of, what have you achieve so far - and start to take responsibility of yourself and making use of every single thing that you own, exploring and trying new things in life which lead to a purpose. hence, a meaningful life - contented life, hopefully.

reflecting things back, i think i have this concept in the back of my head for a very long time, but i don't really put it in a organized way like the author did. that somehow, it revealed almost all of my lackings which i decided to keep it still for a quite some time now.

soo upon reflecting and pondering things, i have listed up some of my resolutions that i would like to achieve (or make it in progress) in order to guide my passion and my purpose in life.

and oh, about the purpose in life - i like the analogy that the author mentioned in the book. he signifies the purpose/why's in life in a piece of coin - the two-sided coin which made from a simple valuable stainless steel material. two sided of coin gives two - the big why and the small why.

the big why in life is the reason why you're being alive today. which is the purpose that is beyond human's reach. fit to what Allah had stated,

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me [51:56]

which means, to direct everything for the sake of Allah, as an 'abd.

on the other hand, the small why in life is - of how would you want to direct your worldly life to. where do you want to be in the future and what do you want yourself to be remembered for. about the things that you could benefit others and your future generations.

altogether, both are on the same one coin that should related to each other. both why's should be able to guide you to be contented in life - the ultimate happiness.

but in order to achieve those, create your small steps - starting with identify your passion and build your skills to keep you going.

soo here goes my short term plan/new year resolutions for 2021 - just to guide where my passion would lead me to.

  1. Learn a new language: Mandarin.
  2. Learn about editing - poster and video.
  3. Improve drawing skills.
  4. Consistently update on Blogspot - topic on Dental, experiences, and thoughts on issues.
  5. Actively sharing about dental care on social media platform.
  6. Read non-academic books - 50 books for 2021.
  7. Revising on dental knowledge.
  8. Join any seminar and workshop dentistry related.
that's all i can think of, as of now. (there's few personal thing, but i'll keep it private for the time being). this is just to mark the date as something to look back in the future. hopefully i'll be able to make a progress though not achieve all of it.

soo till then.
